Can you think of the
last product or service you really enjoyed and may have told your friends
about? Do you think marketing by word of mouth has a big impact on sales?
In Emma’s post she
talked about how we use marketing every day in our lives and most of the time
we don’t even realize it. Whenever we have a good experience from some good or
service we immediately go and tell someone about it whether it be our friends,
family, or even a stranger. Until Emma pointed this out, I never realized that
we really do use marketing all the time, and even I can recall multiple times that
I have done this. Recently when I went home for winter break I saw my sister
and noticed she got a haircut and I loved it! I immediately asked her where she
got her hair done and she said at a salon in my hometown called Firefly. I was
in need of a haircut so I called the salon the next day and made an
appointment. I absolutely LOVED the way my hair turned out and that night I
went out with some of my friends and raved about the Firefly salon and told
them all they should go there from now on to get their haircuts. Three of my
friends went to get their haircuts at Firefly after I had told them about it and
they were very pleased with their service as well.
This shows that
marketing by word of mouth really does help a company’s sales a lot and if a
company produces/offers a good or service that consumers are going to love then
all it takes one person to discover it and like it and soon enough by word of
mouth an abundant amount of people will be desiring the same thing. Do you think there are other forms of marketing that we use everyday and don't even realize it?
